Wedding Ceremony Backdrop Idea

I came across this really cool idea for a unique and different backdrop for the ceremony. Often brides want something unique to "frame" the couple in front of the guests. This is a great idea for a more adventurous, non-traditional couple. Here are some pictures from http://www.readymade.com/ and the link to the post if you want to see more pictures! http://readymade.com/blogs/readymade/2009/10/21/wedding-wednesdays-julie-and-jason/

Micah's 1st birthday...party planning!

It is hard to believe that my little man is going to be 1 in just two months. I am getting my creative juices a-flowin' and have started planning his birthday bash. Now I know this party is mostly more for me than him, but it is just too much fun.

Micah's 1st birthday will be a Camping theme. I mostly came to that decision because of my love of s'mores! What a better excuse than a birthday party to make s'mores in 70 degree weather? So, the camping theme has evolved. I've been all over the internet trying to piece together ideas and I have quite a few!

Favorite sites like Hostess With The Mostess and Etsy are getting lots of visits from me right now.

I'm going with earthy colors like brown, olive, khaki, aloe, and hints of harvest gold.

So far, here is what the plans are....
Food: hot dogs, baked beans, and salad served in recycled paper plates or aluminum plates for authenticy!

Dirt cups (crushed Oreo's, chocolate pudding and gummy worms) and campfire cupcakes

I'm having fun with the goodie bag...fake bugs, individual trail mix packets, flashlight keychains, glow sticks, and dehydrated ice cream! I need to make and/or find some cool labels for these bags.

For decor, I'm making a Camp Micah banner and I bought poms from Etsy! I'm trying to find sleeping bag material, but no luck so far. I'm looking for lanterns (even though it is a lunch party) and an outdoor cricket type CD.

That's where I'm at so far...

Ahhhhh Anthropologie

I continue to draw inspiration from Anthropologie. Their window displays amaze me. Who thinks up this stuff? It is a whole other level of creativity...this is not just a clothing store!
My husband likes to call my favorite place to shop the"Little House on the Prairie" store...which annoyed me at first, but now makes me think that it is totally Little House on the Prairie - Chic!

Check out some of their newest window displays....what a cool job!

Exquisite Weddings Magazine Bouquet

Here is a sneak peak at the bouquet I did for the next issue (due out in March) of Exquisite Weddings Magazine. It will be featured in a bouquet section about ranunculas. I think of this bouquet as "Country Chic"...

The bouquet includes white catteleya orchids, calla lily, veronica and paperwhites, orange ranunculas, peach tulips and garden roses, lime lisianthus and mini cymbidium orchids and accented with dusty miller and two antique costume jewelry earrings. The bouquet is then wrapped in a tan ribbon with antique lace at the top and base pinned by pearls. This would be a fabulous bouquet for the bride anytime of year and with almost any color dress!
